The recommendation is valid, but the accusation is wide of the mark, since my message was not the final decision in any case. I am trying iswitchb mode now, and I find that the displayed list of buffers does not bother me. But I find that I use it the same way I used the ordinary minibuffer completion (and I get very surprised when TAB enters the buffer name immediately instead of completing). So far I have never paid enough attention to my buffer switching to even start to think about whether iswitchb might actually help. I think the list of buffers in iswitchb will be confusing for beginners, and I think it should not be enabled by default.
