What would you like to be changed? "Hairy" is not a criticism. It just means Tramp is complex, and has complex interactions. Therefore, changes in it could easily break something. However, from what you've said, it sounds like THIS upgrade to Tramp should go into 22.2. Would you please install it in EMACS_22_BASE?
