I take your point. At the same time, using a link face will show that these act as links. With good arguments on both sides, I don't have a strong opinion about this. But I wonder: could we make the normal link face a little less obtrusive, such that it would still do its job, but would also be ok for file names in Dired? Or could we come up with a toned-down link-like face to use in Dired?
