I just tried it, and while it's possibly the right tool (after getting used to it), it does seem a bit terse I am not really sure what that means; could you be more specific about what change you would like? Perhaps a wrapper around compare-windows (which would repeatedly invoke it and leave a "trail" of overlays to highlight its progress) would be useful. Are you saying you wish it would highlight the matching text that it finds each time?
