Unlike `#' which advances to the next article, `M-#' stays on the same article. To unmark several articles the user has to type `M-# C-n M-# C-n ...'. Because this is a local binding, it is just a Gnus issue, not a conflict with anything else. There is another key binding in gnus that conflicts with the global key binding. It is `M-g'. What does that do? (Is the global M-g binding of any use in Gnus buffers? Perhaps not much.)
