Yes, but I think it is a drastic thing to do--to discard all the other conditional alternatives that the user doesn't even know about. The user probably meant the customization to replace the behavior he saw. Perhaps the customization buffer could show a button that says "enable other alternatives for other kinds of displays", and it would normally be "yes". If the user turns it off, then the customized behavior should be unconditional. If the user leaves it alone, then the customized behavior would be only for the current alternative.
