It used to be possible to invoke the shell by pressing M-x she RET but
now I get:
Symbol's function definition is void: she
I prefer the old behavior.

If I do 'emacs -Q' and type in 'M-x she' then I get a '*shell*'
buffer. Also in my normal environment I don't see the problem. Maybe
you 'require' other features that introduces a 'she.*' command.

I get the same using emacs -Q. Are you using the latest CVS version?
