    The major mode is changed in this case by an artifact of mh-e.  The
    problem, as identified by another mh-e developer is that the buffer is
    set unmodified a tad too early, and we never noticed before.

Are you saying that a change will be installed in mh-e.el to fix this
problem?  I think so, but I cannot tell for certain.
