Not for me, in Emacs 21.4 on Solaris 9. Try it with `emacs -q --no-site-file` just to make sure it's not a problem with your local configuration. The plot thickens... Stefan confirms the behavior I see and he says that it is by design. Keven does not see the same behavior. I did use emacs -q --no-site-file, BTW. I suspect now that the difference might be the platform (I'm on Windows). So, which behavior is by design?
