This may introduce = confusion in context where data is *sent* between processes or network hosts. Okay, I can make out =E2=80=98begin=E2=80=99 and =E2=80=98length=E2=80=99. = Without looking, I do not understand at all what =E2=80=98reg=E2=80=99 is supposed to mean. region? r= egexp? register? Elisp and Emacs core libraries do not abbreviate words except where traditional, and there=E2=80=99s a good reason not to. An abbreviated word = is harder to read and sometimes harder to type because you have to choose the correct one out of a number of possible abbreviations. In many cases, typing a long word is a matter of M-TAB or M-/.
