It is not scary per se; for me, it just creates an impression that it has no way of working. It looks as if it=E2=80=99s going to send an email. But I know that, in ord= er to be able to send email, a program has to know the SMTP server address, the user name, and the password, and I know I haven=E2=80=99t provided these to Emacs. (Definitely not to =E2=80=98emacs -Q=E2=80=99 in a= ny case.) Therefore, I conclude that Emacs is not going to be able to send email on its own. I also understand that Emacs could use a system facility for sending email if there was one; but I know I haven=E2=80=99t configured an MTA locally, don=E2=80=99t want to, and ain=E2=80=99t going to. So I assume Ema= cs is not going to be able to delegate sending the email to any other program.
