This sort of behavior is one of the reasons I asked earlier about the
possibility of getting use-package included for 29; there's a lot of
cargo-cult configuration going on out there in places like reddit and
Planet Emacs, and much of it is enabled by use-package, so it would be good
(imho) to make that prerequisite step easier.
