I started to do that, and then saw v29-4 - am building that now for Fedora-40 (FC-40),
of course RH do not supply the latest Emas buuld still :-(
Will let you know if bug still happens in v29.4 .
I really don't have any non-standard highlighting tools installed, except for lisp-mode ...

relevant developer(s) will investigate.
