I've written simple scaffolding in the form of git commit hooks[1] to generate HTML, MD, etc. versions from commits to README.org. What I have so far is intended to be imported (e.g. as a submodule) but I think the approach could be simple to adapt -- I use emacs in batch model to invoke org exporters.
