I'm not sure `match-string` qualifies as
a string-manipulating function.=C2=A0 Maybe it belongs in a "regexp-ma= tching"
category instead?

I agree. What would be th= e most logical is to move the regexp related functions to the regexp- names= pace no?

string-match would be aliased=C2=A0as=C2= =A0regexp-match, match-string as regexp-match-value, etc.
