Especially in the case of Emacs, regardless of whether my current file is main.tex or program.py, the place to go to for edition is Emacs and that's what I look for in the window switcher. The buffer name is only useful whenever I have two emacs frames on the same workspace. And I guess I always felt a bit annoyed when switching to Emacs window, without being able to pin-point exactly why... but now I suspect that it is because the default frame name does not make it as easy to identify emacs as other software. --0000000000009ec8bb05adf611c5 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
Sure.=C2=A0 But see below (you quoted, but didn't ad= dress).
Even if someone agrees that the app name should be
present, should it really be leftmost?=C2=A0 And how often
is the app name really helpful?

For what it&= #39;s worth, I usually don't have the same document or directory opened= =C2=A0
in different apps, but when switching apps I'm looking for a= software, not for a=C2=A0
document. Especially in the case of Em= acs, regardless of whether my current file=C2=A0
is main.tex or p= rogram.py, the=C2=A0place to go to for edition is Emacs and that's what= I=C2=A0
look for in the window switcher.

The buffer name is only useful whenever I have two emacs frames on the sa= me workspace.

And I guess I always felt a bit anno= yed when switching to Emacs window, without=C2=A0
being able to p= in-point exactly why... but now I suspect that it is because the default=C2= =A0
frame name does not make it as easy to identify emacs as = other software.=C2=A0
