If we use an input method, will I have to switch between input methods when writing french prose? Is it possible to have multiple input methods activated at the same time?
What I am used to, looks more like abbrevs:
When using Gitlab flavored markdown in a web browser, emojis are entered by pressing : (colon) then the name of the emoji as displayed on
https://www.webfx.com/tools/emoji-cheat-sheet/, and a popup shows matching emojis when the user enters chars.
The same method applies to github, slack, etc.

Rather an input method, I'd say.
