This is a first draft; feel free to help expand, edit, revise, and

In Emacs nomenclature, "Nextstep" denotes the window system common to
both Mac OS and GNUstep, so that this is a tautology of kinds.

Our priority is to make our documentation as clear as possible for users
of varied skill levels and backgrounds. This sometimes means adding
explanations that may seem redundant (or even tautological) to Emacs
developers.

In particular, we can't assume that readers are familiar with all of our
nomenclature, especially not when it's as obscure as "Nextstep means
macOS and Gnustep".

That said, I think the above text should be updated to read "window
systems other than macOS and GNUstep (Nextstep)", so I did that now.

The first priority of all documentation is to be accurate and not
mislead users, as it will if we mention "Nextstep" and "Mac OS" in
contrast to each other, and they subsequently encounter references to
Nextstep.

Thanks, but I realized the mistake and updated the text. The new text
was in the paragraph below the ones you quote here.

Please criticize the updated text if you still think that it's
inaccurate, and propose a better wording.

Oh no, I'm perfectly satisfied with the text you installed.
