I think many others on this thread agree :) The one issue with this scheme = is that we might need to change string manipulation functions too (many pro= grams concatenate regexps using a plain `concat')

Not saying it's a good idea, but =E2=80=98concat=E2=80= =99 could be overloaded to support concatenation of regexes.
