I don't know, but

xlsfonts -fn "-*-dejavu sans mono-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1"
    -misc-dejavu sans mono-medium-r-normal--12-87-100-100-m-0-iso8859-1

And here's the list of dejavu sans fonts and their associated files.
Perhaps that will help.

BTW, since I have upgraded my system to Fedora 20 Beta, the problem
has gone away.
