Dear Emacs Developers, In an emacs built from yesterday's (2013-11-12) sources, I'm seeing the following problem: emacs -q If I then evaluate the following form: (set-face-font 'default "-*-dejavu sans mono-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1") and start gnus: M-x gnus then results in characters written as hex codes with boxes drawn around them; see the attached file. This is on a Fedora 19 system. The dejavu sans mono font is installed: xlsfonts -fn "-*-dejavu sans mono-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1" ==> -misc-dejavu sans mono-medium-r-normal--12-87-100-100-m-0-iso8859-1 I have a build of emacs from 2013-10-15 that does not exhibit this behavior.
