But that IS one of several effects of x-select-enable-clipboard t with mouse-drag-copy-region t in existing emacs when you merely select text with a mouse drag (but only because mouse-drag-track with mouse-drag-copy-region t does a copy-region-as-kill, which does an interprogram-cut-function, which affects the clipboard if x-select-enable-clipboard is t)
