        To reproduce, on a graphical display:
 emacs -Q
 M-x load-library<RET>
 linum<RET>
 M-x linum-mode
 C-x 5 2

       This results in an error, the contents of the *Messages* buffer
 is:

        Is anyone else seeing this?
