Thanks for pointing that out, I agree that this doesn't support my case. But at the same time, I still don't know what a cursor is; or really how cursor-sensor-functions can be useful given this limitation. I'll look for some other approach though. I had actually considered post-command-hook, which you suggested, but I was under the impression that this is very expensive and to be avoided. Tom
