I think its current name makes sense once you know about the package, but it might not be the best in giving others a sense of its capabilities. In short I think what the package provides can be summarized as: - the ability to launch detached processes - a convenient interface to interact with said processes, or integrate them into Emacs I agree that the word "detached" is more clear than its current name. An additional benefit with that name, which I didn't think about first, would be that it ends with ed.
