It looks like the term is fairly settled in the community, and what studying linguistics has tought me is fighting that is an uphill battle, optimistically speaking. Not to mention just coining a new term would only add to the confusion. There is even a duality of terms: distribution and starter kit. The former seems to apply to larger, all encompassing, framework like constructs, like Spacemacs and Doom; whereas starter kits are more like nicer defaults and some popular packages, with less intervention as to how user interacts with Emacs and configures it. -- =C4=B0.
