FWIW, I'm getting back into Emacs development now (a little late --
anything I discover will be much too late for 25.1!) and will endeavour
to replicate this bugger on a sacrificial mailbox. (I suspect it is a
bug of some sort related to work's rather bizarre Beehive mail system,
so the only person on this list who would be likely to have been able to
reproduce it is Drew, and he doesn't use Gnus... so the onus is on me to
look at this rather than simply locally reverting the commit as I have
up till now.)

It is definitely not a release blocker, given the huge number of person
it affects :)
