And this thread isn't even about that. Emacs is underpowered in this respect, and this simple interface setting a bunch of default values and checking for some nonzero digits - 376 chars and cryptic Elisp - the `interactive' - just for that, then just imagine if we would be prompting each variable! as you suggest.
