OK, I did a fresh checkout, and only commented this in configure.in:

On a GNU/Linux system with

GNU libc 2.7
GCC 4.3.2
GNUstep Base 1.16.1 (built against libffi 3.0.6)
GNUstep GUI 0.14.0
