It's more convenient IMO. The ERT manual didn't specify tests had to be separate, either. For Gnus we have my tests internalized and some other tests external... I hope we're not forced to use just one style if there's no technical reason for it. Then `make check' will be able to find those tests. I'll do mine but am not sure if the other Gnus tests (which David Engster wrote IIRC) will work with the Emacs ERT run. David, WDYT?
