If getting along perfectly with Richard, in particular in electronic media, was a precondition to coding GNU software, the project would be in a pretty poor state. It is perfectly reasonable if you choose to step down from arguing this case once you see yourself as having no additional points to make. Mere repetition tends to achieve little but cause annoyance. However, the skills of persuading humans and computers are at best loosely related, and so it would be a pity if people stepped down from a team effort when they find that they do not get everywhere they'd like in one area all on their own. Richard said he'll discuss the issue with people he trusts. And frankly, this sounds like a responsible thing to do even if it is frustrating to people who'd like to see a more prompt reaction to their input. It would be a pity if by the time this process comes to a conclusion there is nobody interested in making it count any more. -- David Kastrup
