I didn't understand one thing (and could not see it in the gif): what do you mean by "buffer changes"? Any self-insert-command key will fire this flashy-thing? That didn't work for me. (Beacon on point movement didn'twork here, either.) I'm on GNU Emacs 25.0.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.10.8) of 2015-01-02.
