Having a function to remove/parse headers is more useful, and calling it like: (with-current-buffer (url-retrieve-synchronously URL) (url-remove-headers) (stuff)) seems enough to me. And, actually, most of the time you do not want especially to remove them but at least to go after them. This is a very common code to search-forward \n\n to move point after the headers.
