I have done it in the past: 1 lucid-frame {normal performance} 2 tty-frame within xterm {performance is better than normal} 3 fbcon {You could get the best results here} Most of my time within emacs is spend on (2). When I deal with media-files {pdf, images} number (1). There is no other option. And when You want to get the best fbcon (3). This is just for my case on a quad-core arm machine {orange pi plus 2e}.
