Right, this omission should be fixed.

There was an idea to create a package that will revert all changes
in the default values since the last release.  So e.g. antinews-29.el
could contain:

    ;; Revert variable-pitch mode-line back to fixed:
    (set-face-attribute 'mode-line nil :inherit 'fixed-pitch)

    ;; Display comint buffers in another window again:
    (add-to-list 'display-buffer-alist
                 '("\\*inferior-lisp\\*\\|\\*scheme\\*\\|..."
                   (display-buffer-pop-up-window
                    . ((inhibit-same-window . t)))))
    ...
