There's the superword-mode buffer-local minor mode, though.

When I do C-x C-f in

emacs -Q --eval '(setq enable-recursive-minibuffers t)'

I find that the syntax categories in the minibuffer are already
perfectly set up for that, e.g., `/' has punctuation syntax and `.'  has
symbol syntax.
