I'm sorry if this was already said in some thread, but could you
please state the rules for what can and what cannot be committed on
the trunk? Are there any limitations, or are any changes allowed?
And if there are limitations, when or under what conditions will they
be lifted?

Any simple change and addition of features (or packages) is fine.
OTOH changes that involve refactoring should be discussed here first
because we may prefer to keep them for later.
