Not sure what kind of pointer you are asking for. What I meant is that magit almost completely conceals the buffer text with display strings and overlays that display something entirely different. Emacs's display engine was never designed to work in such conditions, and it's a wonder in my eyes that it doesn't break completely, or at least becomes unbearably slow.
