I'm not supposing anything about mail user agents. I'm just trying to explain why mbox files are incompatible with the way most people deal with their mails nowadays. It's not without reason that Maildirs have replaced mboxes (and IMAP has replaced POP). I understand that the limitations of mbox files are apparently not a problem for you personally. More generally, I'm trying to explain why adding a support for Maildirs to Rmail might increase its adoption.
