Thanks. Done. http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=9736 The reason I am trying to move up to emacs 24 is I've been told in the help forum that this version of emacs has a new feature. For lack of a better term I'll call it a "shared library" feature in which emacs can be compiled with libraries and deploy on systems that may or may not have those libraries and be able to load the libraries if they are needed and they exist. I'm wondering if this new system is working for AIX and if not, I'm willing and able to help. I can't promise how much time I will have but I'm interested in getting that feature working for AIX 5.3 and 6.1. Thank you, pedz
