If you set (buffer-local) cursor-type different from t and nil, it is now looked up in blink-cursor-alist to blink the cursor off. There is also a new alternate-cursor-type variable which may override this buffer locally (or globally). Finally, cursor-in-non-selected-windows can now be set to a specific cursor type. -- Kim F.
