It's odd that you run into it while I do not. I wonder why that would be? For what it's worth I'm running in a full clone, where "git diff" reports no differences. Hmm.... I thought bug#20799 was Windows-only. And I don't see this on Windows but only on Debian. I'm not sure whether mine was a full clone or had changes. I'll tell you the next time this happens, martin
