Apparently, beginning with emacs21, 'cuts' to the kill buffer are made directly through the X clipboard protocol or some such. I typically use emacs under X windows over a dialup ppp line and ssh compression. The general performance is OK, but this modification in emacs21 has made any additions to the kill buffer much slower. Is there any way to turn this off and restore the older emacs20 behavior?
