Original versions of Windows 95 didn't have ws2_32.dll, but it was compatible: you could get it (from Microsoft, at no cost) and it worked (and many other networking applications need it). Since Windows 98 (and whatever version of NT) it's been standard. Davis -- This product is sold by volume, not by mass.
