The "rm -rf quail" bit should be executed only if the build
directory differs from the source directory.  Was your build
directory the same as your source directory?  If so,
you might investigate why
"[ `cd ${srcdir} && /bin/pwd` != `/bin/pwd` ]" is
mistakenly succeeding on your platform, even though
you're building from the source directory.
