In the following I am referring to [1]

I start Emacs with a link to 'runemacs', created with addpm, and without
any .emacs in the user profile directory.

Then I change the default font (Courier New 10) to (Bitstream Vera Sans
Mono 11) with Options/Set Font... The font changes correctly. Then I
choose 'Save Options'... but when I restart Emacs it still uses (Courier
New 10)! Now in the user profile dir. I find .emacs.d, but it does not
seem to store what I have tried to save...

I have tried with 'Customize Emacs', but I was not able to find
something useful.

So, if it isn't a bug (in my mind 'Save options', should save the
options!) what I have missed? What can I add to an .emacs file to set
(Bitstream Vera Sans Mono 11) as default?

Thanks,
    Angelo.

Are any of the other items in the Options menu saved when you use "Save
Options"?

Yes, they are: if I start without an .emacs file, it is
created an saved when I change and save options! but NOT if I change the
font and Truncate Long Lines...

In conclusion: Save Options does not work with Truncate Long Lines...
and Set Font...

Cheers,
    Angelo.

Truncate Long Lines is a per-buffer option and therefore cannot be
saved. Set Font, however, should work (it works for me). Maybe this is
a Windows-only problem.

Does saving the default face work if you do M-x customize face RET
default RET, make changes there, and do C-x C-s?

The problem is that I do not know, following the method you suggest,
which item to choose to set 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono' by default,
instead of 'Courier New'.

In any case I have solved modifying an old .emacs file.

Thanks,
    Angelo.
