Would that be good? (Two history vars then of course, one for regexp and 
one for plain.)

I would guess that sometimes it would be very useful and sometimes it
would be very annoying, depending on the task at hand. One idea to
solve this could be to have two commands for fetching previous input,
one for the "global regexp history" and one for the per-command
history.
