I hope that both you and Dan can feel ok again and perhaps try to understand why you misunderstood each other. With that I do not want to blame anyone of you. When things get both complicated and stressing misunderstanding is a very likely outcome. One of the reasons is that communication is on different levels simultaneously, both the logical and emotional level. The challenge is perhaps to see what is happening to oneself and then on what level to correct the communication. And maybe also that one may switch level when one gets stressed. Some people becomes more logical when stressed, other becomes more emotional. And for all of us I believe it is a bit harder to switch level when one is stressed.
