On GNU/Linux Kubuntu 8.04, trying:
EMACS='${source_dir}' ./make-dist --snapshot --bzip2
fails because it needs autoconf-2.62 and K8.04 has only 2.61.
Is there a trick to avoid that failure without installing autoconf-2.62?

Reading the make-dist source suggests:
touch configure src/stamp-h.in
But it is straightforward to install another autoconf.
