"make bootstrap" is a blunt weapon, and is not necessary in this case (and in many others). But of course, if you'd rather use a single simple recipe, and don't much care for the longer build time, using "make bootstrap" is perfectly fine. I only recompile roughly once a week, so I'm happy to trade off extra compile time for greater chance of successful completion. -- Bob
